We are excited to start a new school year with, hopefully, far less distractions. Last year your students and our staff did an amazing job wading through all the protocols put in place for Covid. Parents, students, and teachers started school last year under a tremendous amount of stress and uncertainty. I am so proud of how we were able to find our stride and complete a school year with very few Covid issues, all while taking care of our kids.
Many of you have read or heard on the news about student “learning loss”. To be honest, we did not see a lot of learning loss from our Greenback students last school, however we did witness a large drop in perseverance and dedication toward schoolwork and completion of schoolwork.
Therefore, for the 21-22 school year Greenback will be focusing on building student stamina and supporting our students with their social/emotional needs. Our entire school has been trained this summer in the program, “Capturing Kids Hearts”. This program is geared toward meeting our students’ social/emotional needs and we will be implementing it in all grades this school year. We hope your kids share how they are seeing how we implement this new program.
Lastly, there are numerous new families who have moved to the Greenback area. Most families have brought lower grade students with a sprinkling of middle and high school students. Our new families are from all over the continent. So, when you see some of them, reach out and show them some Greenback Simply Loves.
Together we will have a great year. Go Kees!!
